Our History

Versatile Interpreting Services opened for business on February 15, 2018. The founder, Michael Maffucci, had been interpreting for years as a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI). He envisioned his own ideas and passion of providing quality service to clients and businesses. Michael’s ideas were transformed into a reality, and VIS was introduced to the community. With the community's support, VIS was born.

VIS opened for business from Michael’s office at his home. The first Deaf-owned and Deaf-led agency in Wisconsin (and still is) provides excellence in versatile services such as interpreting, translating and training programs to all clients, businesses and interpreters. After the first year, VIS increased its pool of interpreters by adding freelancers as they became aware of and interested in working with VIS.

VIS is offering versatile services: sign language interpreting, English/ASL or ASL/English written/video translation, workshops, advocacy and the Skill Advancement Program.
